Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu just inaugurated Blocks 1 and 2 of Phase IV of the Armsdale Building at the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat in Shimla on Sunday, October 18, 2026. This Rs 9 crore expansion is a big step towards improving how the state government works, promising more space and efficiency for public services. This isn't just about new buildings; it's part of a bigger plan by CM Sukhu to supercharge development across Himachal Pradesh. Alongside boosting government infrastructure, his administration has significantly increased Postgraduate (PG) medical seats across the state's six government medical colleges, jumping from 277 to 597, adding a massive 320 seats. This move aims to strengthen healthcare services and ensure more specialist doctors are available locally, potentially saving residents around Rs 1,000 crore annually by reducing the need for out-of-state treatment. With offices set to move into the newly inaugurated blocks soon, the focus will shift to streamlining operations and improving public convenience. The government has also set up a commission to look at reorganising various administrative units, hinting at further reforms to make governance smoother and more accessible. This ongoing push reflects a clear commitment to modernising Himachal's public services and healthcare ecosystem.
