Bank of Baroda Forges $600 Million Settlement in NMC Health Fraud Saga
India's state-owned Bank of Baroda (BoB) has agreed to pay a hefty US$600 million, or about ₹5,700 crore, to settle a long-standing legal battle stemming from the spectacular collapse of UAE-based healthcare giant NMC Health. This out-of-court settlement, announced on Thursday, resolves years of complex legal disputes across multiple countries without either party admitting any wrongdoing, but it hit the bank's shares, which fell by over 4% on the news.
