India's Trade Deficit Hits 5-Month High as Soaring Imports Outpace Exports
India's trade deficit unexpectedly ballooned to a five-month high of $30.43 billion in June, despite a healthy 15.5% jump in goods exports. This widened gap was primarily fueled by a massive surge in imports of crude oil, electronics, and gold, putting fresh pressure on the nation's economic stability. The combined deficit for goods and services surged by an astounding 430% from a year ago, reaching $15.32 billion, highlighting a growing imbalance in India's external trade accounts.
